Bio

Katie was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. After getting married, she and her Air Force husband spent one year in Panama City, Florida, five years in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and three years in Las Vegas, Nevada. They currently reside in Anchorage, Alaska. Starting in junior high, Katie expressed a hobby-based interest in photography but in the last few years it has grown into a career aspiration.

Katie’s photography centers on nature- wildlife of the world and the environments the animals rely upon.  She hopes to raise awareness of conservation issues with the public and generate a genuine interest and passion in her viewers. This effort requires studying animals in their natural habitats while maintaining a respectful distance.

Katie began her formal art education in Las Vegas at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and completed her bachelor’s degree in Anchorage. Photographers must submit their work constantly for publications and she has so far succeeded in being published in a couple of Nevada nature calendars. Katie is also a member of NANPA, the North America Nature Photographers Association and the Alaska Society of Outdoor and Nature Photographers.
